What is Android System?


Android is the first complete open source free mobile platform. Android allows programmers to write managed code in Java based languages which utilize Google developed Java libraries. Android has the power to completely alter the look and feel and functions of a mobile device. The beauty of Android is that third party apps can be created with Java & Android framework.

Android was founded in Palo Alto, California in October 2003 by Andiy rubin ,Rich Miner,Nick Sears, and Chris Whiteto develop, in Rubin's words "smarter mobile devices that are more aware of its owner's location and preferences". The early intentions of the company were to develop an advanced operating system for digitel cameras, when it was realised that the market for the devices was not large enough, and diverted their efforts to producing a smartphone operating system to rival those of Symbian and Windows Mobile Despite the past accomplishments of the founders and early employees, Android Inc. operated secretly, revealing only that it was working on software for mobile phones.That same year, Rubin ran out of money.



Android is right and new letest system. Android is do less cost and android is work  fast in other opreting system. Android 1.1 Version was released on 9 Feb, 2009
The Android 1.1 system image delivered in the SDK is the development counterpart to the Android 1.1 production system image, deployable to Android-powered handsets starting in February 2009.
                                                     
The Android 1.1 system image delivers an updated version of the framework API. As with the Android 1.0 API, the Android 1.1 API is assigned an integer identifier  that is stored in the system itself. This identifier, called the "API Level", allows the system to correctly determine whether an application is compatible with the system, prior to installing the application.

Android 1.5 Cupcake was released on 30 April, 2009 Which was totally based on Linux kernel 2.6.27. Android 1.5 was the first release officially use a codename based on a “dessert item” which is known as Cupcake.

Android 3.0 Honeycomb was released on Feb 22, 2011 Which was based on Linux kernel 2.6.36. This first device using this version was Motorola Xoom tablet, was lunched on 24 Feb, 2011.

Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sanwich was released on Oct 19, 2011 Which was based on Linux kernel 3.0.1. Google’s Gabe Cohen Started this Android 4.0 Version with “theoretically compatible” which production on any Android 2.3.x device.

#9. Android 4.1 Jelly Bean

Android 4.1 Jelly Bean was announce on June 27, 2012 at the Google I/O conference by Google Which was based on Linux kernel 3.0.31. This Android 4.1 Jelly Bean was released to the Android Open Source Project on July 9, 2012. The first Android 4.1 Jelly Bean device is Nexus 7 tablet which was released on July 13, 2012.

#14. Android 8.0 Oreo

On 21 August 2017, Google released the name of Android 8.0, is Oreo.  (Latest Android).
We had already expected the name of Android O after watching Hiroshi Lockheimer (Sunder Pichai hand over Hiroshi Lockheimer as head of Android, Chrome OS & Chromecast) twitter profile, I got – he was indicating the name of Android 8 will be Oreo. You can see in below figure.
